News 2 - Relaunch Decree
Subject: Decree-Law May 19, 2020, no. 34
Following the News circulated yesterday, this document outlines further significant provisions contained within the so-called Relaunch Decree.
Title III: Measures in favor of workers

PARENTAL LEAVE AND BABY-SITTING BONUS FOR WORKERS WITH CHILDREN UP TO 12 YEARS OLD pursuant to Article 23 (Art. 72)
Parental leave for working parents in the private sector is extended for up to 30 days.
Therefore, effective from March 5th until July 31st, 2020, it is possible to utilize the special COVID leave for a continuous or fractional period totaling 30 days, replacing the previously established 15 days.
For employed parents, any periods of parental leave, even if extended (pursuant to Articles 32-33 of Legislative Decree no. 151/2001), utilized by parents during the suspension period, are converted into special COVID leave. Such periods or days are not counted towards parental leave nor compensated as parental leave.
The utilization of special COVID leave is recognized alternatively for both parents, for a total of thirty days, and is subject to the condition that no other parent in the household is a beneficiary of income support measures in case of suspension or cessation of work activity, or is unemployed or not working.
Employed parents in the private sector with children under 16 years of age, provided that no other parent in the household is a beneficiary of income support measures in case of suspension or cessation of work activity, or is a non-working parent, have the right to abstain from work for the period of suspension of early childhood education services and educational activities in schools of all levels, without compensation or recognition of notional contributions, with a prohibition of dismissal and the right to retain their job.
As an alternative to the special COVID leave, the same beneficiary workers retain the option to choose the payment of a bonus for baby-sitting services, up to a maximum total of 1200 euros, replacing the initially provided 600 euros.
This bonus for baby-sitting services is also granted to self-employed workers not registered with INPS, subject to communication from their respective social security funds regarding the number of beneficiaries.
Additionally, the decree in question has provided for the possibility of using the aforementioned bonus for enrollment in:
summer camps;
