News - Relaunch Decree
Subject: Decree-Law No. 34 of May 19, 2020
Following News , we hereby report the additional provisions of greatest significance contained in the so-called Relaunch Decree.
Title III: Measures in favor of workers
Chapter I: Amendments to Decree-Law No. 18 of March 17, 2020, converted with amendments by Law No. 27 of April 24, 2020
PARENTAL LEAVE AND BABYSITTING BONUS FOR WORKERS WITH CHILDREN UP TO 12 YEARS OF AGE pursuant to Article 23 (Article 72)
Parental leave for parents working in the private sector is extended to a maximum of 30 days.
Therefore, from March 5 to July 31, 2020, it is possible to take special COVID leave for a continuous or split period totaling 30 days, replacing the 15 days previously provided for.
For parents who are employees any periods of parental leave, even if extended (pursuant to Articles 32-33 of Legislative Decree No. 151/2001), taken by parents during the period of suspension, are converted into special COVID leave. This period or days are not counted for the purposes of parental leave nor compensated as parental leave.
The use of special COVID leave is granted alternately to both parents, for a total of thirty days, and is subject to the condition that there is no other parent in the household who is a beneficiary of income support measures in the event of suspension or termination of employment, or another parent who is unemployed or not working.
Parents who are employees in the private sector with children under the age of 16, provided that there is no other parent in the household who is receiving income support in the event of suspension or termination of employment, or that there is no non-working parent are entitled to take leave from work for the period of suspension of childcare services and teaching activities in schools of all levels, without payment of compensation or recognition of figurative contributions, with a prohibition on dismissal and the right to retain their job.
As an addition to COVID special leave , the same eligible workers may choose to receive a bonus for the purchase of babysitting services, up to a maximum total limit of €1,200, instead of the €600 initially planned.
This bonus for the purchase of babysitting services is also available to self-employed workers not registered with INPS, subject to notification by the respective social security funds of the number of beneficiaries.
