Extension of Support for Employees on Maternity/Paternity Leave After Returning to Work

In its Notice No. 1343 of April 21, INPS provided details on the extension of the mentoring period for employees on maternity or paternity leave following their return to work, as provided for in Budget Law No. 199 of December 30, 2025.

The aforementioned Budget Law amended Article 4 of the Consolidated Act on Legislative Provisions Concerning the Protection and Support of Maternity and Paternity, providing, in paragraph 2-bis, for an extension of the term of a fixed-term contract to replace an employee absent due to maternity or paternity leave, extending its duration up to, but not exceeding, the child’s first birthday, with the aim of allowing the replacement employee to work alongside the employee they are replacing.
