Updates on the Biennial Gender Equality Report

The Interministerial Decree of March 29, 2022, published on May 17, 2022, defines the procedures and deadlines for drafting and submitting the biennial report on equal opportunities for men and women.


Public and private companies employing more than 50 employees are required to prepare a report on the situation of male and female staff, referring to the employment situation as of December 31, 2021. The reference biennium will therefore be 2020-2021 for all.


The report must be prepared both for the entire complex of production units and their dependencies, and for each production unit employing more than 50 individuals.


Companies with fewer than 50 employees may prepare the document voluntarily, which can be beneficial for obtaining gender equality certification or for participating in public tenders, thereby leveraging an additional advantageous requirement.


The submission of the report will be done telematically by logging on to the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy website, using the SPID (Sistema Pubblico di Identità Digitale) system or the electronic identity card (CIE) of the legal representative or other authorized person.


The deadline for submission, exceptionally for 2022 only, is September 30, 2022.

When fully implemented, the biennial report must be submitted by the deadline of April 30 of the year following the end of each biennium.
