In anticipation of the entry into force of the new decree-law soon to be adopted by the Council of Ministers, regarding measures to contain the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Economy and Finance on Friday, March 13, 2020, and INPS on Saturday, March 14, 2020, declared in their respective press releases the suspension of payments due on March 16, 2020.
The decree will, in fact, contain a provision indicating the duration of the suspension of payments to Public Administrations, as well as further suspensions of deadlines and fiscal measures to support businesses, professionals, and VAT payers affected by the effects of the health emergency.
Therefore, the extension of payments due on Monday, March 16, will also concern tax and social security withholdings on employee salaries, and withholding taxes on fees paid to professionals and self-employed workers in the month of February.
