In anticipation of the imminent entry into force of the new decree-law by the Council of Ministers, concerning measures to contain the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (Mef) on Friday, March 13, 2020, and the National Social Security Institute (Inps) on Saturday, March 14, 2020, announced in their respective press releases the suspension of payments due on March 16, 2020.
Indeed, the decree will include a provision specifying the duration of payment suspensions to Public Administrations, alongside the introduction of further deadline suspensions and fiscal measures to support businesses, professionals, and VAT-registered individuals affected by the health emergency.
Consequently, the extension of payments due on Monday, March 16, will also apply to tax and social security withholdings on employee salaries, as well as advance tax withholdings on fees paid to professionals and self-employed workers in February.
