In view of the entry into force of the new decree-law soon to be adopted by the Council of Ministers, relating to measures to contain the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) on Friday, March 13, 2020, and the National Social Security Institute (INPS) on Saturday, March 14, 2020, announced in their respective press releases the suspension of payments due on March 16, 2020.
The decree will contain a provision indicating the duration of the suspension of payments to public administrations, as well as introducing further suspensions of deadlines and tax measures to support businesses, professionals, and VAT-registered individuals affected by the health emergency.
The extension of payments due on Monday, March 16, will therefore also apply to tax and social security withholdings on employee salaries, withholding taxes on fees paid to professionals and self-employed workers in February.
