Subject: Lombardy Region Ordinance No. 546 of May 13, 2020 – Additional measures for the prevention and management of the COVID-19 epidemiological emergency.
Attached is Lombardy Region Ordinance No. 546 of May 13, 2020, through which the Region "orders" compliance with specific requirements regarding the prevention and management of the Covid-19 epidemiological emergency in order to combat the spread of the virus, prevent the risk of infection, and thus protect the health and safety of workers in the workplace through the adoption of measures that guarantee adequate levels of safety.
The provisions of this ordinance shall take effect on May 18, 2020, and shall remain in force until May 31, 2020, unless extended by a subsequent ordinance (Article 2(a)).
Article 1 of Ordinance No. 546 of May 13, 2020, which can also be consulted at the following link, states:
Article 1 (Urgent measures to contain the spread of infection in the Lombardy Region)
Employers shall comply with the following requirements:
a) Before entering the workplace, staff must have their body temperature checked by the employer or their representative. This measure must also be implemented if, during work, an employee shows symptoms of COVID-19 respiratory infection (e.g., cough, cold, conjunctivitis). If the temperature is above 37.5°C, the person will not be allowed to enter or remain in the workplace. People in this condition will be temporarily isolated and should not go to the emergency room and/or the workplace infirmary. The employer will promptly report this circumstance, through the competent doctor referred to in Legislative Decree No. 81/2008 and/or the personnel office, to the competent local health authority, which will provide the appropriate instructions to be followed by the person concerned.
b) It is strongly recommended that the temperature of customers/users also be taken before they enter. If their temperature is above 37.5°C, they will not be allowed to enter the premises and will be informed of the need to contact their doctor.
