Updates on the Green Pass and the Enhanced Green Pass

News Flash No. 06/2022


Decree-Law No. 1 of January 7, 2022, made vaccination mandatory for the prevention of SARS-CoV-2 infection for Italian citizens and citizens of other European Union member states residing in Italy, as well as for foreign nationals legally residing in Italy who have reached the age of 50, except in verified cases of health risks that must be documented and therefore certified by the patient’s primary care physician or the vaccinating physician. This provision also applies to those who turn 50 after the date of entry into force of this provision (i.e., as of January 8, 2022), subject to the deadline of June 15, 2022.


As of February 1, 2022, a fine of 100 euros will be imposed on individuals over the age of 50 who have not been vaccinated, and the Ministry of Health will enforce this fine through the Revenue Agency-Collection Division.


The validity period of the COVID-19 vaccine pass has been reduced from 9 to 6 months.


Attention! Starting February 15, 2022 the requirement for the Green Pass (which is obtained only following vaccination or (which is obtained only following vaccination or recovery from COVID-19) will come into effect for all workers in the public and private sectors, as well as for all self-employed professionals who have reached the age of 50.
