INPS Technical Provisions Regarding Wage Supplement Benefits

Subject: INPS Technical Guidelines on Wage Supplementation Benefits (INPSNews , No. 84, dated July 10, 2020)
In a circular, INPS outlined the changes introduced by the most recent decree-laws, No. 34/2020 and No. 52/2020, providing an overview of the current regulations governing wage supplementation benefits related to the COVID-19 pandemic and offering instructions on the proper processing of applications.
The following is a summary of the contents of the INPS “ News ” in question. For details on the regulatory provisions, please refer to the “ News ” documents already sent by our firm when the aforementioned decrees took effect.
REGULAR WAGE SUPPLEMENT AND REGULAR ALLOWANCE FOR THE “COVID-19” REASON
The standard period for the wage supplementation program (CIGO) and the standard allowance (FIS) that employers—who have had to suspend or reduce production due to events related to the COVID-19 public health emergency—may apply for is as follows:
9 weeks + 5 weeks (=14 weeks) for periods from February 23, 2020, to August 31, 2020
