Under the new rules for determining minimum contractual wages, introduced by the safeguard clause included in the latest contract renewal of February 5, 2021, which adjusts wages to increases in the cost of living, increases in the minimum contractual wages of the National Collective Bargaining Agreement for Metalworkers are based on an annual ex post verification system. ex post, final assessment of inflation measured by the HICP index, net of major energy costs.
From June 1, 2023, salary increases, initially quantified on a provisional basis, could be equal to 6.6%, following ISTAT's announcement of the amount relating to the 2022 HICP adjustment, net of major energy costs. The increases from June 2023 would therefore be significantly higher than the overall reference wage increase established in the National Collective Bargaining Agreement for 2023 of 1.44% (equal to €27.00 for level C3).
