In implementation of European Directive 2023/970 of the European Parliament and of the Council, Legislative Decree No. 96/2026 was published in Gazzetta on June 1, 2026 Legislative Decree No. 96/2026 which, upon entering on June 7, 2026, aims to strengthen the application of the principle of equal pay for men and women for the same work or for work of equal value, by focusing on ensuring pay transparency and highlighting the relevant implementation mechanisms.
Legislative Decree No. 96/2026 applies to all employers in the public and private sectors, with respect to matters not governed by national law, in accordance with European Union legislation.
The new law applies to all types of employment contracts, including fixed-term, permanent, full-time, and part-time contracts, as well as executive positions.
The following are excluded: domestic employment contracts and contracts for intermittent work.
