News . 11/2026

A referendum on judicial reform will be held on Sunday, March 22, and Monday, March 23, 2026.

Over the next two days, voters will be asked to vote on the constitutional law approved by Parliament that amends certain aspects of the judicial system.

This is a confirmatory constitutional referendum, as provided for in Article 138 of the Constitution. This type of referendum is held when a constitutional law is approved by Parliament but does not achieve a two-thirds majority of the votes. In such cases, the Constitution allows the reform to be put to a vote by the electorate; there is no required voter turnout threshold, which means that the result is valid regardless of the number of citizens who participate in the vote.

Therefore, the outcome of the vote depends solely on the majority of valid votes cast.

Voting hours are as follows:

Sunday, March 22: Polls open from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Monday, March 23: Polling stations open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

while preparations for setting up the polling station will begin on Saturday, March 21.
