Effective April 1, 2025, the new classification of economic activities, ATECO 2025, will be operational, incorporating the evolutions of the entrepreneurial landscape and social changes by modifying previously established activity codes.
The ATECO classification is a system of codes used by Istat to classify the economic activities of businesses for statistical and administrative purposes. The ATECO code (which also appears in company registration documents under activity descriptions) is fundamental for businesses, as it impacts the granting of contributions, incentives, and participation in public tenders.
In this context, effective April 1, 2025, the Business Register will adopt the new ISTAT ATECO 2025 classification, in accordance with EU Delegated Regulation 2023/137.
The Chamber of Commerce will officially update the new ATECO codes in the company's Chamber of Commerce registration document, and for a transitional period, previous ATECO codes will also be maintained to facilitate the transition to the new classification.
