The Lombardy Region has established employment incentives for 2021 aimed at employers who hire new employees, with the goal of boosting employment within the region.
Specifically, employers with production facilities or operational offices located in the Lombardy Region who hire new employees may receive a subsidy, which varies based on the workers’ difficulty in accessing the labor market, as follows:
Workers up to 54 years of age = a grant of 5,000.00 euros is provided;
Female workers up to 54 years of age = a grant of 7,000.00 euros is provided;
Workers aged 55 and older = a grant of 7,000.00 euros is provided;
Female workers aged 55 and older = a grant of 9,000.00 euros is provided.
An additional amount of 1,000.00 euros is added to these amounts if the hiring is carried out by an employer with fewer than 50 employees or by a company established or acquired by workers—including in the form of a cooperative—who come from companies in financial distress (so-called “workers’ buyouts”).
Employers who have implemented work suspensions due to a corporate crisis or reorganization are excluded from the subsidy, except in cases where the hiring involves workers classified at a different level than that of the suspended workers or workers to be employed in production units other than those affected by the suspension.
