Some news on the extension of deadlines relating to employment and the 2023 Fuel Bonus

Law No. 14 of February 24, 2023, "Conversion into law, with amendments, of Decree-Law No. 198 of December 29, 2022, containing urgent provisions on legislative deadlines. Extension of deadlines for the exercise of legislative powers" (the so-called Milleproroghe Decree) introduced important changes concerning employment, the most significant of which are listed below:
Smart Working
The possibility for so-called vulnerable workers to work remotely has been extended to June 30, 2023, including through assignment to different tasks within the same category or area of employment, as defined by the collective labor agreements in force, without any reduction in their current remuneration.
This possibility has also been extended to parents employed in the private sector who have at least one child under the age of 14, provided that there is no other parent in the household who is receiving income support in the event of suspension or termination of employment, or that there is no non-working parent, making it possible, until June 30, 2023, to work remotely, even in the absence of individual agreements, without prejudice to compliance with the information obligations provided for in Articles 18 to 23 of Law No. 81/2017, and provided that this mode of working is compatible with the characteristics of the work performed.
Reorganization of current provisions on disability
The deadline for the adoption of one or more legislative decrees for the revision and reorganization of the current provisions on disability pursuant to Law No. 227 of December 22, 2021, has been extended to March 15, 2024.
